Do you remember this? Well here is the sequel!
The project is called “Fishermen in Mediterranean Sea” and focuses on the photographer Stratis Vogiatzis’ effort to document the life of the fishermen in the Mediterranean Sea over the past four years.
Stratis has photographed fishermen in their natural environment in places like Corsica, Turkey, Southern France, Greece, Egypt, Spain and Sicily. It is a personal photography project with the intention to reveal the fishermen’s hidden world and at the same time shed light to the innermost feelings of the photographer himself…
“Every time I board a boat, I feel like entering a brand new world, a world totally different from the one back on the shore. The sea world is more or less unknown to us and the ‘men of the seas’, as Proust calls them, are amongst those who hold the magic key for it. The time I board a boat, a fishing vessel, dragnet boat or a sailing boat doesn’t matter; I always feel like a journey begins. The feeling of the unknown, the tingle on my body, the vigorousness that colours life instantly, the emotions that emanate from the journey’s aura; everything is there when the boat sails to the sea…”
